Losing ourselves in a poem

Don't let reality cloud your imagination.
Look up at the sky and find once again those long-tailed dragons and sailing ships.

Most of us are familiar with the story of the prodigal son or perhaps of the story of the mustard seed or even the wise and foolish builder. These are some of the stories that Jesus Christ uses to reveal truth about God’s kingdom to his disciples. But are the parables that Christ used still relevant to our society today?

Twelve artists tackle that question in the upcoming exhibit “The Parables of the Christ”. Their aim is to find the truth behind each of Christ’s parables and reinterpret them for today’s generation. Among the artists that are taking part in this exhibits includes Recci Bacolor, Martin Honasan, Dan Libor, Niño Hernandez, Julliane Tarroja, Jehan Manansala, Rodel Buban, Marie Bonifacio, Nestor Calma, Yvette Co, Tanya Escaler and Xander Calceta.

Serendipity is the effect by which one accidentally discovers something fortunate, especially while looking for something entirely unrelated.

The word derives from Swarnadip, the Sanskrit language name for Sri Lanka, and was coined by Horace Walpole on 28 January 1754 in a letter he wrote to his friend, taken from a silly fairy tale he read, called The Three Princes of Serendip: as their highnesses traveled, they were always making discoveries, by accidents and sagacity, of things which they were not in quest of...

The letter read, "this discovery, indeed, is almost of that kind which I call Serendipity, a very expressive word."

It was an instant in August when I was pressed for time. It was the last painting for the exhibition, and I hate to admit it, but I cheated by using an unfinished work of mine whose likeness held what I wished to portray... a visual form.

In that moment, a dear friend from across the universe expressed how much he adored that painting of mine - the last painting. He asked that it be his without the knowledge that it was always his to begin with... it is fated.

It was sometime in February when I started on the original piece, a little after this special kind of love found me. But then life happened, and with time and space as the villains, the painting was left unfinished... until now.

I was taken by sweet disbelief when he wanted that piece in particular, because that painting is in all honesty of him. The form which is now the bridegroom is the stance he held in that moment we shared in the artist's studio... where time stopped.

I absolutely delight in all the surprises my life holds, the existence and development of events that happen by chance. I love how it is when I am not looking that inspiration finds me and gives me the sweetest of kisses... serendipity.

So I was back-to-school at the age of 31, and for the first time in my life I was in love with school and everything about it. I even heart the fact that I had an I.D. to the point of silliness. I just could not stop looking at it on my first day. The thing is, I did not realize how draining art classes would be: how intense & painstaking it all is, that because I've never really sat down & drawn before. Then to be thrown into drawing for 6 hours a day, 3 times a week: this by choice of course. The thing I am amazed at is how much concentration I have mustered, & my patience is also rather remarkable, I never knew. My professor was quite impressed with all that, plus my dedication. I, however, am hardly impressed with my work, very hard to please: one tough cookie. But he instantly recognized the progress I made, development of which he already shared with the dean. I would get all excited by his reactions but my rule is not to congratulate myself or berate myself either, rather I just allow inspiration to cradle me in her arms.

I am done with school for now.

I passed with flying colors ` more important is that I have a tool box in my heart that is filled with new skills learned & a portfolio of pretty pictures, however I am not done learning - honestly, I hope to never be as I am off to my next beautiful life experience.

Life is just different when doing what you're passionate about:

I am Smitten.
Here is the start of my Love Affair with Watercolor.
It is only the beginning; I am just learning.
She is quite tricky to control, but I am Inspired.
Immense in difference to my deep past relationship.
Oil is a Rugged Passion; strong to the touch.
But this, she teases you with her consistency.
Making you weak in technique; diluted.
My Oil surprises in wonder, but in time as it dries.
This Watercolor courts you unexpectedly, and instantly.
I have a fondness for her movement; this graceful caressing.
And her soft texture; light still with deep affection.
She is so beautiful when you have her in your hands.
You think you are in control, though it is she that controls you.
Like anything in Life, you cannot hold on too tight.
Just enough so you feel her; yet loosely for her to break free and run.
Intense is the short lived moment together.
All you have to share is this limited time; that is all.
Intimate, and it is over.
I am taken.
That my Passion lies in Nudes; the union fitting.
Slowly my style I am developing; perfecting.
I am delighted, but far from satisfied.
There is so much more that I want to express; I do not know how yet.
Now it is still so flat; lifeless and shallow.

Beloveds, now we know that we know nothing, now that our bright and shining star can slip away from our fingertips like a puff of summer wind. Without notice, our dear love can escape our doting embrace. Sing our songs among the stars and walk our dances across the face of the moon. In the instant that Michael is gone, we know nothing. No clocks can tell time. No oceans can rush our tides with the abrupt absence of our treasure. Though we are many, each of us is achingly alone, piercingly alone. Only when we confess our confusion can we remember that he was a gift to us and we did have him. He came to us from the creator, trailing creativity in abundance. Despite the anguish, his life was sheathed in mother love, family love, and survived and did more than that. He thrived with passion and compassion, humor and style. We had him whether we know who he was or did not know, he was ours and we were his. We had him, beautiful, delighting our eyes. His hat, aslant over his brow, and took a pose on his toes for all of us. And we laughed and stomped our feet for him. We were enchanted with his passion because he held nothing. He gave us all he had been given. Today in Tokyo, beneath the Eiffel Tower, in Ghana's Black Star Square. In Johannesburg and Pittsburgh, in Birmingham, Alabama, and Birmingham, England we are missing Michael. But we do know we had him, and we are the world.

immediately the whole thing is drawn, constantly passing from one end of the body to the other and from one part to another. utilize as many of the five senses as can reach through the eye at one time.
see through the eyes rather than with them.
merely to see is not enough.
our understanding of what we see is based to a large extent on touch.
contour follows the sense of touch and is to be done painstakingly.
gesture is movement in space and is to be done furiously.
one can act furiously over a short space of time or one can work with calm determination, quietly, over a long extended period. one should draw, not what the thing looks like, not even what it is, but what it is doing.
you must be able to feel it in your own body.
feel the movement of the whole form in your whole body.
rely on sensation rather than thought.
what the eye sees is the result of this inner impulse.
the drawing starts with the impulse.
identify yourself with it.
without a sympathetic emotional reaction in the artist

in celebration of a faith that move so many of us together.

I am so blessed to have found a home

A depth of gratitude to the Church Simplified family
for doing such an amazing job, weekly.

Being away for 10 weeks, I missed CS so much. It was wonderful to come back on such a special night, and wonderful to see how well everyone worked together to bring the night to a success - hard and beautiful work. My deepest gratitude and appreciation to each and everyone of you, from those seen - who woo us with their words and music, to the unseen - whose role is the foundation and the core of the night, and to those who see - who capture everything in between. Thank you.

The Lord has blessed us with so much, both in our own rights and gathered together, and I believe in my heart that He is smiling down at this CS family, pleased at what we have done with what He has given, and now ready to give us more. I lived my whole life on an interpretation I made from something that happened.

I lived my whole life not knowing that I didn't even know this, until now.

At 10 years old my parents separated,
a devastating experience for any child,
for an only child it is even worse, to go through that alone.

As this happened, I was sent away
to study in another country for a few years,
this, an opportunity, so I wouldn't be amidst all the drama.

That is what happened.
And that is all that happened.

What I didn't know, that I didn't even know, was how I interpreted that experience.

Somewhere in the separation of my parents and being away from home,
to coming back to the country a few years later
having to adjust for the first time to separate houses
with new stepparents and stepbrothers,
and relating to tito's, tita's, and cousins who I have been away from for awhile,
and starting high school in a new school
- somewhere amidst all that,
I made the interpretation that I was worthless, unloved, and on my own.

The thing is at that time, I never even thought any of those words in my mind,
but that is what my heart felt at age 13, and it shut down without my knowing it.

I went on with life the best that I knew how.
I went on with life without even knowing that I had no heart.

I did so without even knowing that my interpretation of being worthless and unloved,
created a life wherein I was closed as person,
closed to fully receiving love and giving love.

As a teenager I lived detached, distancing myself from my parents,
unable to see their acts of love and concern,
instead interpreting it as control and them as the enemy,
especially my stepparents.

At a certain age I calmed down, tired of fighting,
realizing that my parents were much happier,
so I accepted my stepparents for who they were to my parents,
with much gratitude.

Then I went on with my own life ready for love.

I went from relationship to broken relationship,
unable to fully accept love or give love,
not knowing I thought of myself as unworthy.

At the time, I was never able to see the love my partners had for me
- not knowing that I lived in the interpretation of a 13 year old girl
who felt worthless and unloved.

I never saw or felt all the love all my partners had for me
- until now at age 30.

It is now that I distinguished the difference
between the experience I had of what happened at one moment in my life
and the interpretation I made of what happened that created the rest of my life.

I got that distinction,
accepted what happened as so,
and got off my interpretation that I was worthless and unloved.

As soon as I got that,
I expressed to my parents how much I loved them
and made them realize that I know how they loved me so all these years.

I made sure they understood that they are amazing parents,
who raised me the best they knew how to,
and that they were not to blame for anything
- all that I felt and did in my life that was wrong was my own fault,
no one else’s.

As soon as I got that,
I expressed to my ex-boyfriends and ex-husband
how wonderful they all are as people,
thanking them for how wonderful they were with me,
wishing them only the best in life and love.

That was just something that happened.
That is what’s so.

I now live free.

I now live free of my past.
I now live free of a future dictated by the past.

I now live free to love.
I now live free to be loved in return.

This, a breakthrough from the Life.
This, grace from God.

The Landmark Education

The Landmark Education for me is practical application to living life to the full through awareness & being present to the woman the Lord made me to be.

The Landmark Forum does not give you anything you don't already have, instead it makes you aware of old mind sets & preconceived notions, allowing you to see yourself as the whole & complete person that you are.

In this new realm of being, you are able to live life to the full, a life that you create, a life you love, a life filled with endless possibilities that in your old way of being you never knew existed.

When I came to know the Lord, He took the scales from my eyes & I saw the world with a new heart. But in my everyday, the temporal scales of this world fill my eyes yet again - with Landmark, I am now able to see myself & the world the way God sees us.

The Landmark Education does not only focus on the person, infact it puts emphasis on inviting every single person around you into this new realm of being, the life the Lord meant for us to have, making present the blessings He has for us & the possibilities of our lives that we ourselves hold in our hand.

I am living my life now on purpose and with a purpose.

"... he is a new creation, the old has gone, the new has come."
